Providing Quality Job Training in Sacramento since 1968.
What is ROP?
The Regional Occupational Program (ROP) offers FREE job training through the Sacramento County Office of Education. ROP classes are open to anyone 16 years of age or older. In fact, 35% of our students are adults! (While high school students are given enrollment priority before adult students, adult enrollment is allowed on a continuous basis for all sessions until filled.) There are no tuition fees and no registration fees. However, in some classes, book, material, and lab fees may apply. ROP is a state funded job training program.
Typical ROP Course
In a typical ROP course, students receive classroom orientation and instruction, followed by placement at a training site four days a week, returning to the classroom one day a week. Training at the site is usually scheduled during the same hours as the class. Students do not generally get paid while training in ROP, however a few courses provide the option of Cooperative Vocational Education (CVE) to eligible students after reaching a certain level of skill proficiency. During CVE, students are paid for on-the-job hours.
